On our visit here in the US, we had been able to visit several churches of the denomination here. One thing that really stood out in our our visit was the sobering lack of young people in the churches.
I was told that this is becoming a common thread in the churches in the United States. Being a youth pastor – the young people are the ones that I look for right away in any given situation during our visits.
How do we make our churches missional so that it would really engage the young people to be part of our faith community? How do we engage the church to go out and be part of the community and the lives of the young people. They are definitely not coming to church – and we as a body need to come to them – not necessarily to bring them to our churches… but to bring the church to them… to engage them where they are at.
It was very disheartening to see.
