My wifey is home….
Posted on 23 June 2009
I bolted from my sleep when I heard the soft message alert of my phone. I looked in bewilderment as I saw the faint light from the outside. What time is it? I looked at my phone and noticed two messages there from wifey.
Message 1: At immigration already….
Message 2. I am already waiting for you!”
My alarm didn’t go off! I was supposed to wake up at 4 am so that I would be at the airport by 4:45am to pick up wifey who flew from Kuala Lumpur. I immediately grabbed a shirt and a pair of pants and within 7 minutes I was out of the house.
What in the world??!! I was waiting for this moment to come – and now that it arrived, I did not wake up!!
I tore through the SLEX – rushing to get to the airport as I sms my wifey and told her “Sorry I did not hear my alarm…”… my right foot was pressing the accelerator hard until the 9-year old Corolla was speeding at 120kph. That is its maximum speed at its age and the level of maintenance it gets. I eased up on the accelerator a bit because it started to shake… but I kept it at over 100. I was late to pick up my wifey. Aarrrgggh!
After 45 mins, I pulled at the NAIA3 Terminal. The taxi infront of me was being examined by the guards thoroughly. When they were done, the taxi driver smiled at them and they had a few exchanges that seemed to go for the longest time. Then it was my turn. Then it was done, i drove through the arrival area….scouring down the bay areas… until I saw a solitary figure on BAY 8 wearing a red jacket.
My wifey has come home! She looked so tired and was weak because of the stomach pains caused by all the stress of being separated from her sister again. She was resting her weight on the push cart containing her luggage. I hurriedly opened her side door and she got in quietly. When I got all her luggage in, I sat on the driver’s seat and kissed my wifey.
She just quietly said “promise me that I will never travel alone again…”
What a sweet wifey she is. She did not get mad at me for being late – and just even told me to drive safely (maybe she knew I would be rushing through SLEX).
And we drove home – almost in silence because she was very tired, sleepy and was in pain. She got inside the house and just prepared to sleep. And I joined her.
After two weeks of not sleeping well – I was soundly asleep in 5 minutes.
My wifey is finally home. I could sleep well again.
I feel at home and so complete….
And I missed her so terribly….
